Trials for the 2026 season will be held in October for the following performance teams:

Trials are held each year to fill new performance teams, and fill vacancies in existing performance teams. Many things are considered when deciding if players in existing teams should be retained year on year. This includes player attendance, behaviour and performance in the current season. In addition, please note that Football Queensland provides all clubs with targets around the number of players that should be retained in FQ Academy teams each year.

Trial Dates and Expression of Interest:

Trials are held in October each year for the following year as per Football Queensland’s mandated FQ Academy schedule.

Preparing for trials:

  • Ensure you have submitted an expression of interest to trial:
  • Wear your Southside Eagles training kits if you have one, or other suitable training kit
  • All players must wear shin pads and football boots
  • Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start time
  • Please bring a water bottle with your name clearly visible
  • Parents and guardians must sit in the designated area – at no time can a parent or guardian stand on the field or sideline, nor coach a player from the sidelines and you may be asked to leave the grounds if you do not respect this rule

What happens after trials?

  • Trial leads and coaches work with the Club’s Technical Director to decide the make-up of each team
  • Successful players will receive a Letter of Offer from the club stating the outcome of the trial
  • Parents/guardians must accept the offer and pay a deposit by the due date – if the offer is not accepted and deposit not paid by the due date, the position may be released to another player
  • Unsuccessful players will be invited to submit an EOI to play in a Quokka, Wallaby or divisional team

We understand that this can be a very emotional time for some players and parents/guardians – if you would like to provide feedback on your trial experience, please reach out to the technical team.

Please note that the Club has adopted a zero tolerance to abusive behaviour policy. Any form of abuse, harassment or bullying towards our staff and volunteers will not be tolerated
